February 9-10 this year in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa, the 33rd Conference of the Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU), the organization’s highest body, was held.
The AU summits have long since abandoned the solemn format characteristic of events of this kind, and have turned into a working organism for determining, coordinating and implementing decisions on the most significant problems of the development of the continent and its role in international affairs. This time, the theme of the summit - “silencing weapons: creating favorable conditions for development” - reflected the most pressing concerns and concerns of African countries and peoples.
