Over the 60 years of the existence of the Institute, its research fellows have produced about 2,000 publications, including monographs, collections of works, reference books, brochures, memoirs, articles and conference proceedings. Every year the IAS publishes over 20 individual and collective monographs, many of which become notable milestones in the history of Russian and global African Studies.

The books offer the latest findings in the fields of economics, international relations, global studies, political science, sociology, history, ethnology, cultural studies and gender studies in African and Arab contexts.

In addition to monographs and collections of works, the IAS issues continued editions –Bibliography of Books, Brochures and Articles on Africa published in the CIS and a periodical English-language review of the most significant publications African Studies in Russia, as well as serial editions – Africa in Reminiscences of Veterans of Diplomatic Service, Gender Studies, Global and Strategic Studies, New and Modern History of African Countries and Civilisational Dimension. The bulk of works is produced by the Institute’s own editing and publishing laboratory, which is stocked with modern printing equipment.

The Institute's research fellows publish papers on topical issues related to the development of African countries, memoirs and travel reports in the scholarly journals Vostok/Oriens and Asia and Africa Today (Editor-in-Chief – Alexei Vasiliev, Honorary President of the IAS), co-founded by the IAS and the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, as well as in other learned and popular science periodicals.

Printed products of the IAS are provided free of charge to research libraries and other similar establishments, or are dispatched to foreign centres of African Studies via the system of book exchange.
