January 19, 2023 Meeting of the Director of the IAfr RAS with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Sudan in Russia

On January 19, 2023, a meeting was held at the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IAfr RAS), the Director of the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Corresponding Member. RAS, Doctor of Economics, Professor Irina Abramova with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic to Russia Mr. Hassan Mohammed Elghazali Eltijani Sirraj.

During the meeting, issues of cultural and economic cooperation between Russia and Sudan, as well as preparations for the Russia-Africa summit were discussed.

Concrete proposals were made for the development of cultural and scientific cooperation between the Russian Federation and Sudan, including studies of Sudan in Russia and Russia in Sudan. In addition, His Excellency Mr. Ambassador voiced the idea of opening in Khartoum the Russian Cultural Center and the Center for Russian Studies at the University of Khartoum.

His Excellency Mr. Ambassador also spoke in support of the development of cooperation between Russia and Sudan in sectors related to agriculture, oil production, and oil refining, as well as hydropower.
