July 25, 2023, Russian-African conference of the Valdai Club “Russia and African countries: established traditions of interaction and prospects for cooperation in the new world.”

On July 25, 2023, the Russian-African conference of the Valdai Club “Russia and African countries: established traditions of interaction and prospects for cooperation in the new world” was held in St. Petersburg. According to the organizers and participants, the Valdai Conference is intended to become a “final synchronization of clocks” at the expert level on the eve of the II Russian-African Summit on July 27–28. At the Session IV of the Valdai Conference - “Soviet Legacy in Africa: from the Past to the Future” - the speakers were Elena Kharitonova, Senior Research Fellow at the Center for Civilization and Regional Studies of the Institute of African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Vladimir Shubin, Chief Research Fellow at the Institute for African Studies RAS. The speakers received gratitude from the Club’s management for their participation in the Conference and active work on its preparation.

Elena Kharitonova also took part in the preparation of the Valdai Club Report “Russia and Africa: Audit of Relations”, published for the Russian-African Summit.
