Cooperation

As a scientific institution dealing primarily with international issues, the Institute for African Studies has developed a wide network of contacts abroad. The Institute’s international cooperation with foreign partners is versatile in forms and methods of implementation. It includes engagement in international programs of scientific collaboration and research projects, representation in foreign academic bodies, participation in international expeditions, conferences and seminars, teaching activities abroad, academic exchange programmes, and membership in international associations of Africanists and Arabists, as well as in international societies for business and cultural cooperation.

The IAS maintains regular contacts with universities in South Africa, Tanzania, Nigeria, Liberia, Uganda, Sudan, Morocco, Libya, Namibia, Brazil, Mexico, Portugal, Sweden and the USA. The IAS has concluded cooperation agreements with many foreign research centres for African Studies.

The ongoing cooperation with embassies of African countries in Moscow and the participation of African diplomats in various events at the IAS play an important role in promoting international exchanges.

In view of the growing interest of foreign partners in the IAS, it has expanded its information outreach. In addition to keeping the materials on its website up to date, the IAS issues and disseminates a quarterly newsletter to international research centres for African Studies

The Institute can justifiably claim to be the centre of scientific and cultural dialogue on problems of Africa between various countries and regions of the modern world.
