Ursula von der Leyen's visit to Ethiopia: goals and outcomes

Ursula von der Leyen assumed the post of the head of the European Commission on December 1, 2019, and on December 7, 2019 made her first working trip to Africa, namely to Ethiopia. This choice was a surprise for many, but it was made personally by the new head of the most important EU body, and this is far from accidental. Ethiopia is a key partner for the EU in the region. In addition, a country with a population of more than 112 million people is an important and growing export market for the EU (over 300 European companies are already present there). European analysts also point out that Ethiopia could become a key partner in the future for the EU to stop the flow of economic migrants from Africa to Europe. Now the country is preparing for the general election in May 2020.
