Postponing 15th African Studies Conference Destinies of Africa in the Modern World

Dear Colleague, Participant in the 15th African Studies Conference “Destinies of Africa in the Modern World”,

As you remember, the Conference was to take place in May 2020 but was postponed for a year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the current situation with the pandemic in the world still does not allow us to hold this Conference with more than 500 participants from 55 countries as a face-to-face event. Choosing between its postponing for another year and holding the Conference online and understanding this choice as one between two far from being good but the only possible ways out, we have preferred to hold the Conference online, on May 24–26, 2021.

You do not need to resubmit your panel proposal or paper abstract. Please find attached the updated accordingly Conference Program. For minimizing the problems related to time zones for at least a part of our colleagues based in the Western Hemisphere countries, we have appointed the panels convened or co-convened by them for evening (Moscow Standard Time) sessions.

The Conference Book of Abstracts will be uploaded on the website before the Conference.

All the technical information necessary for participation in the Conference will be sent out in due course.

Registration fee is cancelled: participation in the Conference online will be completely free.

We cordially wish you and all yours to stay well. We are still looking forward to seeing you in Moscow at one of our future conferences, when the global situation permits.

Yours faithfully,

Organizing Committee
