December 2025: General Elections in the Central African Republic

On December 28, 2025, general elections were held in the Central African Republic. The people of the CAR were to elect a head of state (president), a new parliament (National Assembly), and representatives of regional and municipal governments (for the first time since 1988). Incumbent President Faustin-Archange Touadéra won the first round of voting, garnering 77.9% of the vote with a turnout of 52.42%. This is his third victory in the presidential election. Faustin-Archange Touadéra previously won the 2016 and 2020 elections.
