Maxim Grishenkin and Tamara Andreeva took part in the discussion, 'The African Region in BRICS: Goals and Prospects”.
On 15 July 2025, as part of the 4th Annual African Cultures Festival, the Library for Foreign Literature in Moscow hosted a discussion entitled 'The African Region in BRICS: Goals and Prospects'. Junior researchers Maxim Grishenkin and Tamara Andreeva, from the Centre for African Strategy in BRICS at the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, attended the event.

The researchers analyzed the results of the BRICS summit held in Rio de Janeiro, focusing on its significance for the African member states. Particular attention was given to the potential for further expansion of the association, ensuring food security and sovereignty on the continent, and diversifying South-South partnerships. The experts also analyzed how these issues were reflected in the final BRICS declarations and traced the dynamics of their evolution. A Q&A session was held at the end of the keynote to discuss such hot topics as dollar dependence, US trade wars, and the role of the New Development Bank.
The event took place at the BRICS+ Information and Cultural Media Centre, supported by the BRICS Expert Council–Russia.
