Namibia: Inauguration of Nandi-Ndaitwah

On March 21, 2025, on a day when Namibia also celebrated its 35th anniversary of independence, the inauguration of a new president, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, took place in the capital Windhoek. The event was a landmark not only for Namibia, but also for the entire Southern African region, given the country's historical role in the struggle for independence and its stability in the post-colonial period. The inauguration was attended by dignitaries including leaders of neighbouring states, representatives of international organizations and the diplomatic corps. Among the heads of state present were President Cyril Ramaposa of the Republic of South Africa, President Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe, who is also chairman of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), as well as the leaders of Angola, Botswana, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia and Tanzania. Russia was represented at the inauguration ceremony by M.L. Bogdanov, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the Middle East and Africa.
