2024 Presidential Elections in Ghana and Prospects for the Development of Russian-Ghanaian Relations

On December 7, 2024, presidential elections were held in Ghana. The candidate from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party, President of Ghana in 2012–2017, 65-year-old John Dramani Mahama, was elected head of state, receiving 56.55% of the votes (6,328,397) of voters. His main and, in fact, only rival was Mahamudu Bawumia from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Vice President of Ghana since 2017, who won 41.61% (4,657,304) of the votes. The remaining 10 candidates (there were 12 in total) received less than 1% of the votes each. The number of people participating in the voting exceeded 11.4 million, the turnout was 60.9%.
