This book is devoted to the identification of limitations and the establishment of prospects for the political regulation of cross-border population movements in the context of the migration crisis. The characteristics of the structure of migration systems during periods of their progressive development and crisis are determined based on the authors’ hypothesis of the spatial three-stage migration process. The monograph reveals the features of the development of the migration system “Asia – Africa – Europe” during the European migration crisis of the 2010s – early 2020s, which determine the differentiation of the prevailing migration policy of countries in the region of formation of migration flows, the transit region and the region of accumulation of migration flows. The authors put forward the concept of migration waves, the explanatory and predictive power of which is aimed at establishing a spatial sequence of temporary resettlement centers within migration systems.
The book is addressed primarily to specialists in the field of migration research, human geography and political science; teachers, researchers, university students, as well as anyone interested in cross-border population mobility and related socio-economic and political issues.
