On November 23, 2022, the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences organized a Situational Analysis on the eve of the second Summit and the Russia-Africa Economic Forum with the invitation of members of the Scientific Council under the Secretariat of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum and a number of departments.

The main goals of the event were: to identify existing problems and obstacles for the development of Russian-African cooperation, to discuss specific practical steps that can be taken before the second Russia-Africa Summit, and to develop proposals for cooperation with Africa for the period up to 2024-2025.

Director of the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences Irina Abramova and Ambassador-at-Large, Head of the Secretariat of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum Oleg Ozerov, who reported about the past and future work about the organization of the Summit and emphasized the importance of practical results on the African direction of Russian foreign policy.

The situational analysis was attended by representatives of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, Rossotrudnichestvo, Rospotrebnadzor, the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, the non-state development institute Innopraktika, Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University "LETI", EXIAR JSC, Russian Railways JSC, RusHydro PJSC, AESA, AFROCOM, TASS and RT news agencies, NPO Svetoch. In their speeches, the speakers touched upon the economic, financial and humanitarian aspects of Russia's cooperation with Africa, spoke about the current activities of their organizations in the African direction, outlined the existing problems and immediate plans.

Faculty of the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, members of the Scientific Council under the Secretariat of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum and invited participants during the situation analysis made expert assessments and forecasts, and also put forward a number of proposals to improve the effectiveness of relations between Russia and Africa and prepare for the upcoming Summit in 2023, and Economic and Humanitarian Forum Russia-Africa.
