The monograph is a continuation of the study of the history of Christian civilizations, which began with the publication of the first volume in two books by the ROSSPEN publishing house. Volume 2 is devoted to the stage of the emergence of the main Christian civilizations (the first 11 centuries of the Christian era), which coincided with the era of great migrations of peoples from the periphery of the civilized world to its advanced centers. Having passed through various trials, often catastrophic, most Christian civilizations survived, some perished, and others spread over vast new territories. Christian communities were in close interaction with the more numerous and culturally highly developed communities of other religions, which gained state power. Christian, former Roman Europe, having experienced a great migration of peoples, accepted and introduced new aliens to its civilization. A powerful Romano-Byzantine civilization won here, culturally uniting Europe even despite the division of churches. In the following eras - the Crusades and the Mongol conquests, then the great geographical discoveries and European expansion to all regions of the world - Christian Europe adopted many achievements of Islamic, Eastern Christian, and other civilizations. In the XII-XIV centuries. Medieval Christian civilizations in Europe, Western Asia, and the Caucasus flourished. And in the next era, Europe (despite the death of Byzantium) took a leading place in the world system of civilizations. The cultural heyday of the XII-XIV centuries. was due to the successes of the previous period, which are presented by the authors in the proposed volume.
