OSIPOV Yuri Mikhailovitch

A famous Soviet and Russian economist, Doctor of Economic Sciences Y.M Osipov. Y.M has finished the Moscow Financial Institute (MFI) in 1951, worked in the Ministry of finances of the USSR and in the Scientific-research financial institute of the Ministry of Finances of the USSR.

During his work at the Institute for African Studies AS USSR/Russian Academy of Science (from 1978 to 2001) Y.M Osipov headed the Sector of financial-economical problems, was a member of the Scientific Council of the Institute and a member of a dissertational Council.

Y.M Osipov was the monographs’s author, who played an important role in the development of the economical African Studies, among them: Developing countries: financing the economy and inflation (1978), co-authored with Doctor of Economical Studies G.E. Roschin: International monetary and credit relationships with African countries (1986); Africa. International assistance in development, external debt and the problems of Russian-African credit relationships. 1996. Under his direction were written the collective monographs: Policy of the structural stabilization in Africa: social-economical and financial aspects (1990); African Drama: lessons of the past, actual problems, outlines of the future (1997) and others.

Y.M Osipov, was a well-educated person, great scientist and orator, was a high-level professional in the sphere of the monetary relations, financiation of the countries’s in development economy. He had a big influence among the colleagues and the famous africanists, and the young scientists, gave many forces in graduate students’s training (in the Instate for African Studies and RUDN). All the colleagues and students who knew Yuri Mikhailovitch will keep the long and good memories about him.
