October 13-15, 2021 Third Eurasian Women's Forum

On October 13-15, 2021, St. Petersburg hosted the third Eurasian Women's Forum . The organizers of the Forum were the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

In the modern world, the topic of the Third Eurasian Women's Forum "Women: Global Mission in a New Reality" is gaining special relevance. Strengthening international cooperation in order to strengthen the role of women in achieving sustainable development goals, shaping a women's agenda, as well as new approaches to solving global problems in a new reality are the main tasks facing the participants and organizers.

The business program of the Forum included plenary sessions, strategic and expert sessions with the participation of international organizations, discussion platforms, including with opinion leaders, parity discussions, public-private and business dialogues, webinars, and workshops.

Key discussions of the Forum were devoted to the discussion of the new role of women in ensuring global security, social progress, the transition to new models of economic growth, the development of healthcare and high-tech industries, and solving global problems of ecology and climate.

Director of the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Economics, Professor Irina Olegovna Abramova made a presentation on Russia and Africa in the context of global challenges of our time at the thematic session "Women Scientists in the Context of Modern Global Challenges."

I.O. Abramova was the moderator of the business dialogue "The role of women in the integrated development of the African continent" .

The speakers discussed the most relevant measures today to support women in African countries, how in this context the practices and developments of the Eurasian Women's Forum can be actively involved and scaled up, the main goals and objectives set by women's communities and specialized organizations in preparation for the second Russia-Africa Summit in 2022 year.
