General Election in Burkina Faso, November 2020

On November 22, 2020, a general election was held in the Republic of Burkina Faso, in which the citizens of the country elected a President and a new National Assembly. The legal system of Burkina Faso is formed as a result of the synthesis of French law with Muslim religious and African customary law. According to the Constitution, Burkina Faso is a Presidential Republic, the Head of the State is the President, who can be re-elected once. The election of the President takes place in two rounds: if none of the candidates receives a majority of votes in the first round, a second round is held.
