ASAUK Biennial Conference 2012

The African Studies Association UK is calling for papers for the 2012 ASAUK biennial conference. The conference will be held in conjunction with Leeds University Centre for African Studies (LUCAS) at Leeds University in 2012 and will run from 2pm on Thursday Sept 6th to 1pm on Saturday 8th September 2012.

A number of panels and streams have already been proposed for the conference. We are grateful to the below for organising a series of panels running through the conference.

We are also very pleased to have two panels on North Africa submitted by George Joffe (Cambridge) and Martin Evans (Portsmouth).
Papers

A call for papers is now open and a full list of panels can be downloaded here and a list of panels with abstracts downloaded here .

Panels may still be submitted so these lists will be frequently updated. The full of list of panels with abstracts is organised alphabetically by the name of the convenor.

To submit a paper for the ASAUK Conference you need to register via the link below. Once you have registered you can then log into the online submission system and submit your paper.

Once you have registered on the conference website you will need to log in click on "Click here to make a new submission" and you will be presented with a list of the panels currently proposed for the ASAUK Conference. Please select the panel into which you wish to submit your paper and click next to proceed. Papers can also be submitted independent of any of the panels currently proposed, to do this you should not select any of the panels listed.

All papers require abstracts of no more than 250 words.

It is worth noting that you can use your one email and password to propose several papers. Should you wish to amend your personal or paper details you can this by logging into the system at any time up until the close of submissions.

Panels

To submit a panel you need to register via the link below. Once you have registered you can then log into the online submission system and set up a panel. In the submission system that we are using panels are called symposia and so to register your panel please go to the "set up a new symposium" section of the system. Panels require abstracts, however you can continue to log into the system and update your panel details including the abstract in the run up to the conference. Panels will need to be finalised by April 2012. It would be possible at this stage to register with preliminary abstracts outlining possible the theme of the panel.

Once you have submitted your panel/symposium it will appear on the website and those who are giving papers can register and submit papers into your panel.

The cost of registering for the conference is below, a substantial discount on registration is offered to members (this does not include associate members) and membership form can be downloaded here.

The below delegate prices with meals include lunch and dinner on Friday the 7th September and lunch on Saturday the 8th prices with accommodation include accommodation for Thursday the 6th and Friday the 7th September only.
