The monograph is devoted to the study of modern Islamism and its impact on the situation in the region of the Middle East and North Africa. For the first time, Islamism is seen as an instrument of the Middle Eastern states in the struggle for regional leadership. Islamist ideology and projects based on it are actively used by the states of the region to advance their interests. The events of the Arab Spring have intensified competition for regional leadership, which could have far-reaching consequences for the Middle East and for the world as a whole. This is the first special domestic study, where an attempt was made to make a systemic, comprehensive analysis of the three main Islamist projects - Saudi, Ikhwan and Iranian. At the same time, the task is to determine the potential of each of the above projects.

The book is intended for both specialists in the field of history, political science, and employees of the Russian state apparatus, teachers and university students, as well as anyone interested in the Middle East and the influence of Islamist movements and Islamism in general on the situation in the Middle East region.
