The round table «Terrorism and violence in the East and in Africa. Gender aspects» is a regular scientific inter-institution event organized by the Group for Gender Studies throughout the last three years. The focus of this meeting will be on the studies of the societies experiencing (or which experienced) the long-term armed conflict behind which there are usually dynamic social transformations and powerful social reconstructions, which leave their impact also on the culture of gender relations. The regions in focus and the social processes and relations unfolding there have a unique “demonstration effect”. Their experience could provide possible scenarios of social development for other regions of the planet in case of similar extreme situations. The participants of the round table viewing the conflict as a system of different opposing relations (individual, social, historic and cultural, racial and ethnic, confessional, political, psychological) will study the role and place of a woman in it.
The organizers plan to publish the proceedings after the round table.
We invite everyone interested to take part in the round table.
