"African migration: problems of influence on international relations"

Round table "African migration: the problem of influence on international relations", organized by the Center for Studies of Russian-African Relations and Foreign Policy of African Countries, Institute for African Studies, was held on June 9, 2015, in the conference hall of the Institute.
The purpose of the roundtable was declared as follows: to identify the extent and mechanisms of African diaspora's influence upon the system of international relations, upon the internal and external policies of their countries of origin and host countries in the context of the formation of a polycentric world order.
The roundtable was attended by representatives of the federal government agencies, scientific research institutes, federal universities, NGOs, the African diaspora in Russia.
Deputy Director of the Institute for African Studies, Professor, Dr. Sc. (Hist.) Dmitry M. Bondarenko has welcomed the participants and guests of the event. He also delivered the keynote address on "The System of Global Governance and the Diaspora (case study of African migrants in the United States)".
Then began the work of the two sessions of the round table. The following papers were presented:

Alexander A. Tkachenko, Ph.D., Head of the Center for Studies of North Africa and the Horn of Africa. "Inefficient power structures and armed conflicts as factors in the growth of illegal immigration from North Africa."
Inna G. Rybalkina, Ph.D. "The impact of migration on the African family."
Nina N. Tsvetkova, Ph.D., Institute of Oriental Studies RAS. "Problems of Migration in Africa and Asia."
Grigory A. Karpov, Ph.D. "African Youth in modern Britain: social and cultural issues."

Other important guests of the "round table" have also addressed the audience with their bright presentations. Among them were the Head of the Department of External Relations of the Federal Migration Service of the Russian Federation Oleg V. Artamonov; the chairperson of the Committee "Civil Assistance" Svetlana A. Gannushkina; Chairman of the Executive Bureau of Burkinabé citizens in Russia Sheik Zungrana; Deputy Director of the organization "Migralend" Sergey B. Safronov.
In the debate, Dau Tiekologo - chairperson of the Malian fraternity in Russia, and Thiam Tapsiru (Mauritania) took part. Representatives of the Embassies of Rwanda and Portugal, as well as other guests, have honoured the round table with their presence. The round table has become a platform for fruitful and sincere debate on a range of issues related to African migration in its international dimension, and in relation to the Russian realities.
