The extended Session of the Scientific Council of the Institute for African Studies on the occasion of 25th Anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Namibia
On April 14, 2015, the extended Session of the Scientific Council of the Institute for African Studies on the occasion of 25th Anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Namibia took place at the conference hall of the Institute for African Studies. The event was jointly organized by the Centre for Southern Africa Studies (IAS RAS) and the Embassy of the Republic of Namibia in the Russian Federation. The opening address was made by Prof. Dmitri M. Bondarenko, Deputy Director of the Institute. Then Mr Ndali Che Kamati, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Namibia to the Russian Federation, made a brilliant speech. The guests warmly greeted also the addresses by Mr Andrew Maringa, SADC representative, chargé d’affaires, Embassy of the Republic of Zimbabwe to the Russian Federation, and the address by Mr Dmitrii Suchkov, respre¬sentative of AfroCom and Vnesheconom¬bank. The keynote report made by Prof. Andrey Yu. Urnov, the first Soviet/Russian Ambassador to Namibia «Namibia: Independence and Beyond» acquired particular interest. Then the open floor discussion followed, and every guest received an opportunity to greet the representatives of the Republic of Namibia on the occasion of anniversary and also to share his/her opinion and ask questions. Afterwards the guests gathered at the informal reception.
