November 12, 2014 Round Table on the Problems and Perspectives of Federalism in Africa

On November 12, 2014, the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, (RAS), held a Round Table on “Problems and
Perspectives of Federalism in Africa”, with participation from scholars of the Institute. The moderators were: O. I. Natufe and Kh. M. Turyinskaya. The Deputy Director of the Institute for African Studies, RAS, D. M. Bondarenko delivered the opening address. The Round Table discussed the theoretical problems of federalism and its application as a model of government in Africa (Nigeria, Ethiopia, Tanzania, RSA, Madagascar, and other countries). Papers were presented by O. I. Natufe, V.R. Filippov, Yu. N. Vinokurov, R. N. Ismagilova, A. V. Timofeev, S. M. Shlenskaya, and Kh. M. Turyinskaya.
The following also participated in the ensuing discussions: D. M. Bondarenko, A. E. Zhukov, T. S. Denisova, A. A. Kazankov, E. N. Korendyasov, A. P. Pozdnyakova, V. A. Sidorov, A. A. Tkachenko. The results of the Round Table will be published in a volume.
