On March 28, 2023, the Center for the Study of Russian-African Relations and the Foreign Policy of African Countries of the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences held a conference with international participation on the topic "Africa - the rising center of the emerging multipolar world."

The event, which was held in the format of a videoconference, was attended by scientists, teachers, graduate students, and applicants from the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, IGH RAS, MGIMO, and the Institute for International Studies of MGIMO (U) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, the Institute of Asian and African Countries of Moscow State University, RISS, RUDN, Samara State University of Economics, the Pskov branch of the St. Petersburg University of the Federal Penitentiary Service, the TISBI University of Management, the Institute of Economics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Economic Institute of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus. The work of the conference was covered by representatives of the Russian media: the program "Today" of the NTV channel, electronic publications Vzglyad.ru, Gazeta.ru, and Lenta.ru.

The growing role of Africa in the world, the development trajectories of Africa and its subregions in the 21st century, the internal and external factors of the economic growth of the African continent, pan-African and subregional and development programs, global and regional challenges and threats hindering the socio-economic progress of Africa, the place continent in the strategies of the world's main centers of power and their African policy, the prospects for the development of Russian-African cooperation in the face of increased turbulence in the international situation.

The speeches contained recommendations for strengthening the mutually beneficial partnership between Russia and African countries, which can be useful both for the business community and for preparing the upcoming second Russia-Africa summit.
