Center for Civilizational and Regional Studies Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences is holding a conference on December 7, 2021 on the topic: “Prospects for the processes of destabilization in the Middle East, North Africa, the Sahel and the Horn of Africa".

The theme and problems of the conference are determined by the strengthening of the role of the religious factor in the emergence and development of conflict situations in the countries of the Middle East, North Africa and the Sahel, including major armed conflicts. Ways of resolving conflict situations are important.

The problems of the conference being organized go beyond these ideas. The purpose of the conference is to discuss and develop mechanisms to prevent and overcome instability caused by various factors. It is planned to bring up the following questions for discussion:

    - the main factors of the processes of destabilization / stabilization in the countries of the Middle East, North Africa and the Sahel; the impact of these processes on the conditions and possibilities of civilizational transit in the region of North Africa and the Sahel;
    -revolutionary and quasi-revolutionary processes in the countries of the Middle East, North Africa and the Sahel;
    -possible scenarios;
    -the impact of COVID-19 on the destabilization processes in the Middle East, North Africa and the Sahel.

We invite interested scientists, university professors, graduate students and students to take part in the conference. Please send your abstracts (within 2 pages, or 3 thousand characters) by November 29. The organizing committee also accepts articles (up to 20 thousand characters).

References to sources and literature in abstracts and articles should be made page by page, at the bottom of the page, in the format 1,2,3 ...

As a result of the conference, it is planned to publish a collection of materials with placement in the RSCI system.

Please send abstracts and articles to the secretary of the organizing committee of the conference senior researcher. TsTSRI Institute for African Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences, Ph.D. Khairullin Timur Radikovich. In addition to the content, the abstracts must contain the following information: speaker, place of work, position, academic degree, topic of the report, contact phone number and e-mail.

Please note that the organizing committee is not able to pay for travel and accommodation for nonresident participants.
