2020 Presidential Election and the Political Situation in Ghana

Presidential elections were held in Ghana on December 7, 2020. A candidate from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was elected the Head of the State for a second term, President since January 7, 2017, 76-year-old President Nana Akufo-Addo received 51.3% (6,730,587) of the vote. His main and, in fact, the only rival was John Dramani Mahama (47.36%, 6,213,182) from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party, the former President of Ghana - from July 24, 2012 to January 7, 2017.
